On bomb blast in Ekiti

Ekiti state governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi has continually reiterated his administration’s commitment to combat crime in the state and has stated that he is doing all within his power to ensure the safety of his people. It is therefore surprising when the news of a bomb blast in Ekiti filtered  through.

Dr. Fayemi described the act as barbaric and called on the state commissioner of police to expose those behind the dastardly act. I want to sate that the perpetrators of this heinous crime might still be in Ekiti State, so the government must be vigilant so that the perpetrators are brought to book and future occurrence forestalled.

The state government should not take it lightly with anyone who is interested in making the state unsafe and create fear in the mind of Ekiti people. They should hold a meeting on how best to combat crime. It is time to declare war on crime and criminals. This reiterates the need for Amotekun and we are grateful to South-West governors for coming together to launch it; the lives of all the people deserve to be a priority; Pastor Enoch Adeboye said all souls are precious to God and no one is allowed to terminate the lives of others. This is well stated in Section 33(1) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended that every person has a right to life and no one shall be deprived intentionally of his life, save in execution of the sentence of a court in respect of a criminal offence
