On ASUU strike

The road map to 2019 general election is fast approaching and political candidates from various political parties have been given signal to commence their campaign programs and rallies across the country. What interests me most is the newly adopted slogan of All Progressives Congress from ‘Change mantra’ to ‘ Next Level’. I’m still wondering what is next in our level when our youths are getting married to idleness at home as a result of ASUU strike.

Many years have come and gone and I have recorded countless number of strike actions embarked on by the tertiary institutions in Nigeria; Federal Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education across the country do embark on strike as a means to vent their disapproval against irregularities that hinder the free flow of education in the country. Despite the fact that the strike is a tool to pinch the government in order to ameliorate the yearnings and aspirations of the lecturers in our noble institutions, its effect has however been considered useless.

At the same time, my research have never shown the result of our Senators, Honorables, Ministers, Commissioners  for once to have embarked on strike due to the non paid constituencies and sitting allowances. Never! Their selfish aim is to slice the national cake into pieces to grow more pot bellies. Their mission is for their self aggrandizement agenda; this is much of the reason why they pay deaf ears to the clangs of the various strikes that were  staged in the past and closed their eyes to display pretence on the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities ( ASUU).

Without reasonable doubt, the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics ( ASUP), would be very ready to join the queue. I hope this does not come into play by the Polytechnics’ Union because the scar of the 12 months strike embarked in 2013 without fruitful outcome is still fresh and unforgettable experience in the memory.

Meanwhile, reverse is the case as regards to the politicians children. Their sons and daughter have been flown abroad blatantly enjoying our loots.
