Omowunmi, Onisasun CEO, stages New Yam Festival celebration in Ibadan, Sunday

Popular Ibadan-based Chef and CEO of Onisasun, Ikuerowo Omowumi, is set to hold her maiden edition of the new yam festival celebrations in Ibadan Sunday, 6th August 2023, at 12pm prompt.

 

The popular food service provider will host this August festival at Onisasun’s premises, Block 3, Plot 1, Town Planning, Oluyole Estate Road, Beside Marriage Registry, Adjacent Sumal Head Office, Ibadan.

 

According to Omowunmi, the festival will showcase favourite indigenous dishes such as Isapà, Wòròwó, Ìlà Aláṣẹpọ, Èfọ̀rírò, Ègúṣí, Banga, Edikaikong, Ogbono, and the ever-popular Seafood Okro.

 

While speaking with Nigerian Tribune Online, the Ekiti-born food entrepreneur explained that her love for her background and indigenous culture motivated her to institute this remarkable celebration in Ibadan.

 

“I miss home a lot… I stopped eating pounded yam in May because yam was out of season, and the ones available were not good for pounded yam.

 

“Now that New Yam is out, I decided to celebrate the new season in my own Ekiti way, alongside people that will enjoy the celebration with me,” she explained.

 

People from Ekiti, Ondo and all lovers of food are expected to show up at the event to enjoy their indigenous, local dishes as there will be a 20 percent discount off all festival meals.

 

As a brand, Onisasun has become one of the most sought-after culinary experiences in the South-West, and this event promises to be a treat for all attendees.

 

There will be food, games, and music for all attendees.
