Omotola, Joseph Benjamin, others nominated for BON Awards

As activities for the 2017 Best of Nollywood (BON) awards gear up, nominees for the awards, which numbered more than 200, were unveiled in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, during the week.

At the unveiling, which featured a parade of Nollywood’s finest, Kannywood actresses, Jamila Nagudu and Rahama Sadau, were named Best Actress in a leading role in Hausa.

Sadau was nominated for her role in the movie, Matatace Shaida, which also gave Adama Zango his best actor in Hausa nomination and Sadau is expected to compete with A-list stars such as Omotola Jalade-Ekehinde for her role in ‘Alter Ego,’ Ivie Okujaye in ‘Slow Country,’ Ufuoma Mcdermott in ‘The Women,’ Michelle Dede in ‘What Lies Within’ and Esther Audu for her role in ‘Inikpi.’

Sambasa Nzeribe, who was nominated for Best Actor in English, contends with Alexx Ekubo, nominated for his role in ‘Inikpi,’ Joseph Benjamin in ‘Dance to my Beat,’ Bolanle Ninalowo in ‘Picture Perfect,’ Gabriel Afolayan in ‘Tatu’ and Paul Utomi in ‘What Lies Within.’
