A socio-cultural association of Igbomina sub ethnic group in Yorubaland, Omo Ibile Igbomina, has said that there is no existence of a Gbomina-Ekiti kingdom in any part of Yorubaland.
The association has also said that it has no relationship with anyone planning a development fund meant for development of the said kingdom.
Speaking with journalists in Ilorin, Kwara State, on Tuesday, the national president of Omo Ibile Igbomina, Mr Timothy Adebayo, said that Gbomina-Ekiti kingdom was an imaginary kingdom created to achieve a dubious purpose.
Adebayo, who said that Igbomina people were spread over five local government areas of Kwara and Osun states, added that Gbomina-Ekiti kingdom did not exist in any of these places.
He explained that before the 1976 local government reform, there used to be Igbomina/Ekiti division in Kwara State, saying that the creation of more local government areas led to Igbomina and Ekiti having separate local government areas.
The Igbomina leader called on law enforcement agents to investigate the claim, saying that anyone involved should be arrested and prosecuted.
