Senator Omisore being presented to the people by Ambassador Farounbi
The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Senator Iyiola Omisore has taken his campaign to Odo-Otin Local Government Area of the state, ending it at Okuku, the hometown of the state’s former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, where a cheerful crowd welcomed him with a red carpet treatment.
At the Thursday campaign rally, Omisore, promised the people he was ready to deploy his expertise to rebuild Osun State, who he said had been “badly managed” by the Governor Raul Aregbesola-led the All Progressives Congress (APC) government, adding that it was time for the people come out of the long years of slavery in the state.
Joined on the podium by his running mate, Hon Yemi Lawal, and other SDP stalwarts, which include, its national leader, Ambassador Yemi Farounbi, state chairman, Dr Bayo Faforiji, former Police Affairs Minister, Mr Jelili Adesiyan, Omisore said, his party was interested in human capacity development in the state, as well as to ensure gainful jobs are created so the youths and others seeking qualitative jobs can be well engaged.
Also at the rally attended by Dr Olu Agunloye, a national leader of the party who also represented the Afenifere leadership, Omisore promised to fulfill his campaign promises, assuring the people he won’t let them down if they cast their votes for him to emerge the governor of the state at the September 22 governorship election in the state.
Earlier, Omisore, on his arrival at Odo-Otin, began his campaign at Inisha, after paying homage to the traditional ruler of the town, Oba Joseph Oladunjoye Oyedele, Fadimu II, who gave him his royal blessings, and while he addressed a mammoth crowd who had waited for at the campaign ground, he lauded their support and charged them to be vigilant and monitor their votes on the election day.
The reception was the same in other nearby villages and towns Omisore visited on Thursday, including Ikosin, Igabaye Oyan and environs, where he addressed the people and also paid homage to their traditional rulers, promising also to turn the situation of things round as the governor of the state.
At Okuku where he ended the Odo-Otin campaign rally, Senator Omisore visited the palace of the Olokuku of Okuku, Oba Abioye Oyebde, where he received his royal blessings, who,e Omisore also assured the traditional ruler of his commitment to the development of the town and the state in general.
“The emergence of SDP government in Osun State while Jerald development to the state, public infrastructures that have suffered many years of neglect will be resuscitated, workers salaries will be paid, likewise the pensioners’ arrears, all dilapidated schools will be refurbishe, and our students will learn under a good and comfortable condition, while relief and succor will come to every Osun indigene in the state,” Omisore said.
