Olunloyo GRA residents hail Reps member for supplying transformer

Published by

The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/South-West federal constituency, Honourable Adedeji Stanley Olajide, has been described as a trustworthy lawmaker who always keeps to his promises.

This was disclosed by residents of Omololu Olunloyo GRA in Oluyole, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area of Oyo State, during the inauguration of a 300KVA transformer facilitated by the lawmaker for the community on Saturday.

In his opening remarks at the inauguration, chairman of the community, Mr Tunji Ajibade, eulogized Olajide for deeming it fit and counting the community worthy of the gesture.

Ajibade said the community was more or less a thick forest when they moved to the area, adding that there was no electricity, not to talk of other infrastructure.

He said: “There was nothing to write home about in terms of social amenities when we came here. But as time went on, we started contributing to make sure that this place becomes habitable. Unfortunately, we were still experiencing the same problem of power supply due to lack of transformer.

“When we called to request for a transformer, you said we should consider it done. I said politicians have come again because my thought was that there was no iota of truth in whatever they say.

But I was surprised that within two weeks you granted our request. You have proved yourself to be Omoluabi as people call you. On behalf of every member of this community, I say thank you, sir.”

Ajibade further said that “as Oliver Twist who always asks for more”, the community again is asking the lawmaker to help tar the road that links the community with 7-Up road.

He said that if there is any crisis of gridlock at Mobil through the Adeoyo-Challenge, Ring Road, “our community road is the only passable road for people going to Orita-Challenge.

We will be very happy if, in the next one year, the road is due for inauguration through your effort and I  believe it is possible.”

Also speaking, a resident in the community, Mr Dayo Adekoya, said this is the first time government will remember them in the estate, despite the fact that the estate is named after a former governor in the state.

“We’ve been neglected but God has answered our prayers through Honourable Olajide. And to collaborate our chairman, when he said we should consider it done, the same thought came to mind that this will never happen; but alas! Olajide has written his name in gold.”

Mr Abiodun Awodipe, who is also a resident of the community, appreciated Honourable Olajide for the gesture, adding that the singular project has brought members of the community to the lawmaker because God has used him to bring light to the entire estate.

“This is to give Honourable Olajide assurance that in the next three years, all of us in this community will give him our votes,” he said.

In his remarks, chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, Mr Olumide Balogun, said he was not surprised by what the lawmaker had been doing, saying, “We knew his worth and ability before we voted for him, and I am promising the community that the road would be tarred.”

While speaking, Olajide, otherwise known as Odidi-Omo, said donating the transformer was to complement what the state governor, Mr Seyi Makinde, has been doing.

He thanked the people for giving their votes to him and Governor Makinde during the last general election, just as he described himself and the governor as new breed with new ideas in the PDP and promised that the party will never disappoint the people again.

He further said he believes in relationship, as he disclosed that his long relationship with people of good pedigree who reside in the community also contributed to the prompt supply of the transformer.

“I don’t make promises that I cannot fulfill and with the cooperation of the PDP leaders in my constituency, I was able to contribute my quota to the development of my people,” he added.

Dignitaries at the event were the caretaker chairman of Ibadan West Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mr Tajudeen Adeniyi; chairman of the PDP in the Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, Mr Olumide Balogun; PDP youth leader, Ibrahim Olajide; Secretary, Ibadan South-West Local Government Area, Mr Oluyinka Oladoyinbo; Secretary, Ibadan North-West Local Government Area, Tunde Oduola, vice chairman, Progressive Forum, Mr Sola Orioke, among others.
