The traditional chiefs and kingmakers of Moro Community in Ife North Local Government area of Osun State on Wednesday affirmed that, Ifa oracles and deities assignments are obsolete in the selection of the new monarch of the town saying, their time had expired.
The Moro-in-Council and the king makers through, the Oosa of the town, High Chief Festus Abidoye argued that, involvement of deities are no longer relevant in an issue related to the process of selecting an Oba.
He said, that was why, during the reign of the late king, Oba Ezekiel Oyeniyi, he stopped idol worshipping and embraced the Lord Jesus Christ as the best direction to progress in the town.
Speaking at a press conference held at the palace of Olumoro of Moro, the Moro-in-Council and kingmakers through the Oosa of the town, High Chief Festus Abidoye, insisted that, they will not consult any Ifa oracle or deity in selecting the new king of the town.
He said, “Oba Oyeniyi replaced Egungun festival with Moro For Christ crusade and other Christian festivities.”
Abidoye noted that, “Selection of new king of the town will be fair and follow due process. We have prayed and still praying. When the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi visited us he told us that he is in support of whatever is been done to select new king.
“We have tasted both the benefits of serving deities and God almighty and we have seen that, that of the Almighty God stands supreme and not negotiable.

“Most of the Ifa diviners are only looking for what to eat, we are not going to consult Ifa in choosing our next king, we are going to consult our God. The moment we move with His will, he will perfect it.”
“This community is not mono-religious community. We have both Christians and Muslim community. We are not going to exclude our Muslim brethren from the scheme of things also
They however pledged to discourage bribery and corruption throughout the selection process saying, it could hinder success and objectivity.
The spokesperson thereafter charged all the chiefs to jettison it from any contestant to avoid the wrath of God.
