THE Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun, has installed the Vice-Chancellor of Summit University, Offa, Professor Musa Aibinu, as the Mogaji of Aikulola-Aibinuomo family of Ibadan.
Professor Aibinu was among the six Ibadan sons installed as Mogajis on Monday at a ceremony which took place at the palace of the Olubadan in the Itutaba area of the city and was graced by members of the Olubadan-in-Council and dignitaries from across the country.
In his address, Oba Balogun urged the newly appointed Mogajis to discharge their duties with dedication to their extended families and the larger Ibadan community.
He also urged them to uphold the honour and integrity of their communities and avoid actions that may bring embarrassment to Ibadan as a whole.
The title of Mogaji represents the headship of a large family and holds significant importance in Olubadan chieftaincy matters. It marks the first step in the hierarchy, with Mogajis serving as family heads, responsible for maintaining order and harmony within their clans.
Appointment as Mogaji is an essential milestone in the journey towards potentially becoming the Olubadan and requires substantial effort and competence to rise through the ranks.
Presently, there are about 2,500 Mogajis in Ibadan, each contributing to the welfare and cohesion of their respective families and the larger community.
