Ologunagba didn’t say election petitions wasted seven months under Tinubu – PDP

Published by

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that contrary to a recent report in the media, its National Publicity Secretary, Honourable Debo Ologunagba, did not say that the presidential election petitions battle had wasted the first seven months of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

In the said report, a national newspaper (not Tribune) had quoted the PDP’s spokesman as calling for an amendment to the country’s constitution because the first seven months of President Bola Tinubu’s administration were wasted as he was distracted or preoccupied with election petitions and he could not concentrate on governance.

But in a statement issued on Thursday by its Assistant Director, Publicity, Richard Ihediwa, the party said the report was misrepresenting as its spokesman was clearly quoted out of context in the said report.

“If anything, the National Publicity Secretary had consistently, and even in the said interview, hinged the failure of the Tinubu administration on its manifest incompetence, lack of capacity, insensitivity and abysmal corruption.

“While calling on the media to resist the urge for sensationalism in its reportage, we urge our Party members and the general public to ignore the said report,” the party stated.

“The National Publicity Secretary will not be deterred from exposing the Tinubu administration, which has awfully failed solely due to its continuing incompetence, insensitivity, and monumental corruption,” it added.
