Ologbotsere promises to preserve itsekiri tradition

The Ologbotsere of Warri kingdom, Chief Oma Eyewuoma, has reaffirmed his dedication to upholding the customs and traditions that have shaped the identity of the Itsekiri people for centuries.

Addressing newsmen in commemoration of his first anniversary at Essi in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Chief Eyewuoma emphasised the importance of unity and collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure the sustained prosperity and cultural vibrancy of the Warri kingdom.

He also restated commitment to fostering the comprehensive development of the Itsekiri community, despite the geographical challenges it faces.

He pledged to implement strategic initiatives aimed at infrastructural advancement and socioeconomic empowerment in order to propel the kingdom towards a brighter future.

Eyewuoma, who is the Prime Minister of Warri kingdom also stressed the  role of peace and harmony in facilitating progress and growth within the Itsekiri community.

He called on all indigenes of Itsekiri origin to prioritise unity and reconciliation, recognising that sustainable development could only flourish in an atmosphere of peace and cooperation.

The installation of Eyewuoma as the Ologbotsere or traditional Prime Minister of the Warri kingdom on April 16 by the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III, marked a transition in the leadership of the kingdom, succeeding ousted Chief Ayiri Emami.

However, Chief Emami has continued to assert his claim to the title of Ologbotsere, insisting that it is his rightful position until his demise.

Amid the imbroglio, Chief Eyewuoma said he remained resolute in his commitment to serving the Itsekiri people with integrity and dedication, guided by the principles of tradition, development and peace, as the custodian of the kingdom’s heritage and aspirations.
