Okuoma: Join hands to bring perpetrators to book, lawmaker tells Delta govt

The Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on National Planning and Economic Development, Honourable Clement Jimbo, has called on the Delta State government to join hands with security agencies to ensure that perpetrators of the lawless killings of 16 military personnel in the Okuoma community in the state are speedily brought to justice.

Jimbo, representing Abak/Etim Ekpo/Ika Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State, expressed pain over the gruesome murder and maintained that the full weight of the law should be meted out to perpetrators who wasted the lives of gallant, resourceful officers trained by taxpayers’ money.

The lawmaker threw his weight behind the order issued by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) for the immediate arrest and prosecution of the killers.

On the current challenges in the country, Jimbo assured Nigerians of a better tomorrow where unemployment, hunger, and insecurity would be a thing of the past, pleading with Nigerians to be patient with the present administration, which he said was working tirelessly for the betterment of Nigerians.

The lawmaker further assured Nigerians of a robust implementation of the 2024 Budget, which was signed into law, saying that the National Assembly would be proactive regarding its oversight functions.

Speaking on the Constitution Amendment, Jimbo said his committee was working tirelessly to bridge gaps found in the 1999 Constitution.

He urged Nigerians to be patient, give support to the present administration,, and put patriotism first by protecting the country and its citizens.
