Okpebholo’s victory crucial breakthrough for better Edo — Osagie

A former Action Democratic Congress (ADC) House of Representatives candidate in Edo State, Hon. Omo Osagie, has described the governorship election victory of Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as a crucial breakthrough for better and renewed Edo.

Hon. Osagie, popularly known as ‘Mighty man’, made the assertion while reacting to the fallout of last Saturday’s governorship election on Monday in Benin City, the Edo State Capital.

Recall that the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday declared Senator Monday Okpebholo winner of the election after garnering 291,667 votes to defeat his closest rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic (Party PDP), Dr. Asue Ighodalo, who pulled 247, 274 votes.

However, Barr. Olumide Akpata, former president of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and candidate of Labour Party, came distant third in the election with 22, 763 votes.

Speaking with journalists on the election, Hon. Osagie, expressed confidence that the election victory of Senator Okpebholo and his deputy governor’s elect, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, would no doubt usher into Edo good governance that will address the well-being of the people.

“The victory would usher in a new beacon of hope and tranquility for Edo citizens where all indices of development in all spheres would be attained to the satisfaction of citizens of the state”, he said.

He attributed the election to many factors including the unity of purpose displayed by the APC campaign team throughout the period of campaigns.
