Okowa’s wife flags off grassroots eye medical outreach

Published by

WIFE of the Delta State governor and founder of ‘05 Initiative’, Mrs. Edith Okowa  has commenced yet another free  grassroots eye medical outreach  in the state with a flag off for  residents of Warri federal constituency.

The  five-day outreach, which is in conjunction with Restore Sight Africa Initiative and the Delta State Ministry of Health, is expected to  continue throughout the 10 federal constituencies across the state in order to reduce to the barest minimum, blindness and other eye challenges, especially among children.

Speaking at the  ceremony which was held  at the Central Hospital, Warri, Mrs. Okowa urged residents of the three Warri  local government areas to take advantage of the programme to rectify any form of eye problem as free eye testing, treatment and issuance of glasses  to patients would be carried out.

According to her, the outreach targets thousands of residents, especially school children living with various sight challenges across the state, emphasising that school children would be given priority.

She noted that she was moved to continue with the free eye treatment following successes recorded from the first and second phases of the scheme.

She commended the Coordinator of Restore Sight Africa Initiative, Dr Ernest Ogbedo and his team for supporting the programme.
