“THE installation of Instrument Landing System (ILS) at Asaba airport is another milestone to ensure that day or night, poor visibility or not, flight to the airport is not disrupted.
“Governor Ifeanyi Okowa is determined to make sure the airport serves Nigerians as the safety of aircraft and passengers is a priority. That is why reasonable amount of resources is being committed to upgrade the airport in line with Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) guidelines, Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Okowa, Charles Aniagwu, has said.
Reconstruction work to upgrade the Asaba Airport in Delta State is expected to be fully completed in March this year.
The work, which involves the expansion of the runway, taxi way, the watch tower and the demolition of hills around the airport is geared towards giving it an international status.
Apart from the rehabilitation work which has reached advanced stage, the installation of Instrument Landing System (ILS) coupled with Air Field Lighting (AFL) system to boost landing of aircraft has already commenced.
