Okowa hails 2017 merit award winner

Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa

Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa has congratulated Nigerian printmaker, painter and sculptor, Mr. Bruce Obomeyoma Onobrakpeya on his conferment with the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM).

Governor Okowa in a statement issued on Friday by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu commended Mr. Onobrakpeya for his outstanding contributions to the growth of arts and humanities in Nigeria and Africa. Adding that the award will go a long way in inspiring young artists in Nigeria and Africa.

“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate an illustrious son of Delta State, Mr. Bruce Onobrakpeya on his conferment with the distinguished award of the Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM) for his creativity in arts and humanities spanning over 60 years.

“As a state government, we are extremely proud of the achievements of Mr. Onobrakpeya who has distinguished himself as a foremost arts teacher and exhibitionist of international repute.”
