The ‘okada’ man was said to have dared the fast-flowing water, which had resulted from a heavy downpour, but lost direction and control in the Elemi Channel at Ayewa garage area of Adebayo.
Witnesses claimed that the victim had ignored the entreaties by motorists and other commercial motorcyclists, who had earlier failed in their attempt to cross the channel, and had decided to wait for the water to recede.
The witnesses also alleged that the ‘okada’ had two passengers, but that the passengers had chosen not to go with him as he was said to have insisted on his knowledge of the way and how best to wade through the water.
It was gathered that the onlookers were helpless when he lost control, and that they had watched helplessly from afar as he was overwhelmed by the flood.
The body, sources said was found on Tuesday at the Ayewa garage area of Adebayo, and it was conveyed to the mortuary.
