SOME commercial motorcyclists also known as Okada operators, on Thursday, attacked the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Ministerial task team on traffic-free and stabbed a member of the joint FCTA Transportation/traffic enforcement team, Mr Danladi Ibrahim, on the chest.
The victim, who was currently battling for his life at an undisclosed hospital, was with the roving team at Apo area in Gudu district where the operations of commercial motorcycles remain highly prohibited.
Tribune Online further gathered that after Ibrahim and his team confiscated a commercial motorcycle, unknowingly to them, some angry car wash operators rushed to confront them and attempted to free the Okada.
According to one of the witnesses: “In the cause of the ensuing argument, the Okada guy removed the knife from his pocket and stabbed him on the chest which led to the fatal injury.

“He immediately left with the motorcycles while those who came to defend him fled and abandoned their businesses after his action,” He explained.
While confirming the attack, the Chairman of the FCT Ministerial task team, Mr Ikharo Attah, condemned in strong term and described it as a heinous attack by the Okada operators.
He said the FCT administration was doing everything possible to ensure that Ibrahim who was battling for his life gets the best of treatment.
The chairman noted that manhunt for the Okada operator and those who aided him to resist arrest is still on.
Mr Attah, however, appealed to commercial motorcycles operators to limit themselves to areas where they are allowed to operate by the transportation masterplan of the FCT.
He also called on residents to stop defending lawbreakers and join hands with government to develop Abuja, in line with the dreams and aspirations of its founding fathers.
