Ohaneze Lagos chapter member commiserate with Iwuanyanwu’s family

As reactions continued to trail on the demise of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the treasurer of Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos chapter, Mrs Evelyn Okere Onyung, commiserated with his family

In a statement issued on Monday in Owerri, the Treasurer, Mrs Evelyn Okere Onyung, said, “I receive with rude shock the demise of the President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, CFR, Ahajiagamba Ndigbo. His death is indeed saddening and painful.”.

Describing him as a cultural enthusiast and lover of his people who believed in equality, equity, fair play, and national unity, she said that Chief Iwuanyanwu was one of the country’s foremost living elder statesmen whose history on the sands of Nigeria’s politics, economics, sports, and business spheres will remain indelible and everlasting memory to tell, from generation to generation.

She said, “His love for the Igbo race was unmitigated, even as his desire for a united Nigeria where equity, fairness, and justice reign above marginalisation and injustice was unquestionable.”.

According to her, Iwuanyanwu would dearly be missed for his steady stand on the truth on all issues of regional and national interest.

He regretted that the passing on of this great leader and bridge builder has left many people across the country with a deep feeling of loss.

She said, ‘As our leader, we are consoled by the enviable legacies he left as a genial politician, elder statesman, and patriot who was unapologetic in speaking the truth at all times.

She commiserated with the daughter, Dr. (Mrs.) Nwadiutor Iheatanwa, the Group Managing Director of Champion Newspapers, who she described as a personal friend and sister to her, other family members, and the good of Imo State, Ndigbo, and Nigeria in general, over this great and painful loss.

She wished that the soul of the great Igbo leader rest in peace.
