Ohanaeze’s endorsement of Atiku/Obi remains sacrosanct ― Campaign team

The Anambra State Chapter of Atiku/Obi Presidential Campaign Organization has made it clear to the general public that the disassociation of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state from the decision of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo endorsing Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Mr Peter Obi of the People Democratic Party PDP, for the February 16 Presidential election is only personal to the governor and should not be perceived as the general opinion of the good people of Anambra and the entire Igbo race.

Speaking to journalists during a press conference at the campaign office in Awka, the Anambra State Capital on Monday, the Director General of the Presidential Campaign Committee, Anambra State Atiku/Obi Campaign Organization, Dr Harry Oranezi, stated that it’s unthinkable and suicidal for any Igbo to divorce himself from the only body that protects the interest of Ndi Igbo in Nigeria. However, everyone is entitled to his freedom of expression and association, Governor Willie Obiano with his palace jesters’ decision to go against Ohaneze confirms their original intention to work against the interest of Ndi Igbo.

Dr Oranezi hailed the courage of the leadership of Ohanaeze not to sit on the fence in a matter that concerns the interest of every Igbo man in the world. He also embraced the courageous decision of the beloved group which he agreed reflects the opinion of the well-meaning Igbos and Nigerians at large.Governor Willie Obiano is not being truthful to himself and has forgotten that his personal interest should not overshadow the collective interest of the people. He should see through the selfishness of siding injustice and tyranny. He has made his choice, but the entire Ndi Igbo will move on without him.

Anambra State will forever be a part of every decision that would better the condition of Ndi Igbo, and every Anambra man and woman are in solidarity with Chief Nnia Nwodo and Ohaneze Ndi Igbo. We are a part of the decision made in Imeobi Ohanaeze.

It could be recalled that the leadership of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo on Thursday last week during President Mohammadu Buhari  campaign rally and the inauguration of Zik Mausoleum in Onitsha, endorsed Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to take over power from the ruling All Progressive Congress APC led Federal Government, which the Anambra State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano kicked against saying the Apex body has no right to endorse any candidate without proper consultations of the concern stakeholders including his government that has been in all time support of organization.
