Ogun’s biometric capturing of pensioners

It is no longer news that the payment of pensions to retirees across the nation has been bedevilled by undue delays and denials.

But the Ogun State government seems to be genuine in addressing the plight of the retirees through its biometric data capturing exercise for pensioners, following its commitment to ensuring the prompt payment of pensions and deleting of ghost pensioners from  its payroll.

This is a step  towards ensuring judicious use of its meager resources to cater for its senior citizens ( pensioners), as against dealing with the retinue of fake pensioners that hitherto dwindled the funds made available for that purpose.

I want to appeal to the Ogun State government to regularly review the allowances of pensioners in the state so as to enable them to cope with the current socioeconomic realities.
