Ogun trains vigilante officials for optimum performance

ABOUT 430 officers of the Vigilante Service of Ogun State have successfully participated in a five-day training programme themed: Curbing the menace of kidnapping and violent crimes in the society.
The programme, organised by the VSO in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State command, was held at the training academy in Ilaro.

While congratulating participants at the closing ceremony, the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Jide Ojuko, pointed out that regular training programmes increase efficiency of officers and facilitate cooperation among organisations and other security affiliates for improved service delivery.
The commissioner, represented by the Director of Local Government Inspectorate and Monitoring, Mr. Samod Asade, charged the officers to justify government spendings by making use of the knowledge imparted through the training for better performance.

In his remarks, the VSO Commander, Mr. Soji Ganzallo, appreciated the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led government for the support for the corps.
He said that the bill recognising the organisation as So -Safe Corps was had passed by the state House of Assembly.
Ganzallo assured that officers of the corp would maximize the knowledge and skills acquired in the course of the programme for better performance.

Speaking on behalf of participants, Ilaro Zonal Commander of VSO, Mr. Liasu Olamide, noted that the training has helped to equipp them with latest operational techniques as well as practical approach towards combating crimes in the community.
