Ogun: Those who embarrassed Buhari are still walking free ― Osoba

Published by

Former Ogun State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Aremo Olusegun Osoba has expressed concern that the masterminds of the mayhem at the party presidential campaign rally held in Ogun State were still walking freely in the state.

He spoke with newsmen shorty after a meeting of the expanded national caucus of the party on Monday in Abuja.

National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole was booed and pelted with sachets of pure water at the rally. There has been a cold war between Oshiomhole, former Lagos State governor, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Chief Segun Osoba on one hand and the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Dapo Abiodun believed to be the anointed candidate of the trio won the governorship ticket while the anointed candidate of Governor Amosun, Honourable Abdulkadir Akinlade lost. Akinlade had since emerged as the standard bearer of the Allied Peoples’ Movement.

The former Ogun State governor accused the security agencies of shielding the perpetrators of the embarrassing incident where President Muhammadu Buhari, vice president, Yemi Osinbajo, Asiwaju Tinubu, amongst others were in attendance.

He said : “Ogun State is the state of the Vice -President and I told the President today that I apologised that even up till today not a single person has been arrested. I see that as a failure on side of some elements of the security agencies. I made that clear.

“Actually, the bulk of the APC in the state they are one family. The structure has gone out in spite of what has happened, that everybody should vote APC at all levels. When the result is out, you will know that it reflects the mood of the state. We respect the Vice President, he is from a very notable political family. He is married to the Awolowo family. He himself is preaching the philosophy of the Awolowo family, supporting the downtrodden. Awolowo philosophy is welfarism and egalitarianism. I am sure the President will take about that issue.”

The APC chieftain dismissed insinuation of supremacy battle between him and the sitting governor, Ibikunle Amosun, but expressed confidence that Chief Dapo Abiodun would win the election despite the gang up by certain chieftains of the party.

“I am not at loggerheads with him. Yesterday at a stakeholders meeting, I said under no circumstance should anybody dare vote against Amosun as a person, the party is APC. The Governor is a governor, his tenure will end May 29, so why are we bothering ourselves? What is important is that we will vote massively for APC. Amosun is just an individual, I still respect him as my governor up to May 29 this year. I respect a governor because I was governor twice.

“I told our people that vengeance is not ours and nobody should go for vengeance we should all go for APC. Amosun is just an individual but the office of the governor is important office that we should respect and give respect to that office.”
