Ogun students donate two campaign vehicles, 50,000 notebooks, pledge 11,000 votes for Adebutu

The governorship ambition of PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu received a boost on Monday as students in the state pledged their support for his emergence.

The students equally donated two branded campaign buses and 50,000 notebooks for the PDP governorship candidate.

Presenting the campaign materials to Hon. Adebutu, the convener of the student’s coalition, Clement Olusegun stressed that the donated materials were part of their contributions to the success of the PDP candidate.

Clement maintained that the donation of the campaign materials was to go into covenant with Hon. Adebutu that the students and youths populace in the state are partners in progress to the actualization of his aspiration.

The former Special Assistant on Students Affairs to Governor Ibikunle Amosun, therefore, called on Hon. Adebutu to ensure prompt payment of bursaries for the state students and the creation of job opportunities for the unemployed youths in the state.

“We will cast our votes for you and deliver our votes. We are voting for you because we know our bursary will not miss. We want you to know that our votes for you are to provide adequate security in the state.

“We want you to know that our votes for Hon. Adebutu will create job opportunities for the youths, we are voting for you because you are an industrious son of Ogun state. We are supporting you because you will create employment opportunities for our youths,” he said.

Addressing the mammoth crowd of the student populace, Hon. Adebutu assured the students of drastic reduction of school fees across all tertiary institutions in the state.

Adebutu blamed the APC administration in the state for paying lip service to the educational sector by neglecting the basic needs of the students and inadequate infrastructure in the tertiary institutions.

He submitted that Governor Abiodun failed to invest in education because he does not believe in human capital development.

According to him, he continued to emulate the legacy of his father, Sir Kessington Adebutu by providing scholarships for indigent students in the state.

He urged the students to vote for PDP at the governorship and House of Assembly elections scheduled for Saturday.

Adebutu said: “They say we shouldn’t put money in education because when you put money into human resources it doesn’t show. So, for four years, they built roads where people will see, so, why would they want to put money into education? But they’ve forgotten that education shows. It shows in the quality of the nation.

“I give you my word, not all fingers are equal. I know the first thing I shall do. I use the word shall is that there shall be a reduction in the fees of all students. If the government can borrow money to embezzle from the state, there is nothing wrong in going to debt to send our children to school.

“You have the acumen, vote appropriately. Stand by your vote. When you vote PDP you know you’re voting for this ideology. You know you’re voting for better infrastructure in your schools. Better condition for your lecturers and reduction in your school fees.”
