Ogun lawmaker commissions boreholes in constituency

Barely two weeks after the inauguration into the 10th legislature of Ogun State House of Assembly (OGHA), Hon. Lawal Samusideen at the weekend visited his constituency, the Ogun Waterside Local Government Area to commission some borehole projects in Toga, Lokula.

The Ode-Omi-born politician who had a stop-over at Toga village in Ibiade where he held a brief meeting with party members and residents, later proceeded to commission a borehole project in Ibiade.

The Ogun lawmaker who was received by a large gathering of residents, later moved to commission another borehole project at Lokula in Ilusin, Ogun Waterside.

Subsequently, a constituency office of the lawmaker that would serve as a feedback mechanism and link between him and his constituents which was situated along the Ilushin/Abigi road, was also commissioned.

After the commissioning of the boreholes, a reception was organised for him at Abigi Town Hall, where religious leaders, party leaders, and captains of industry graced.

Speaking during the Town Hall meeting, Hon Lawal described the lawmakers in the 10th legislature as a set of brilliant and dedicated politicians. He further craved their indulgence at the event to seek their cooperation and support in order for him to attract life-touching projects to Ogun Waterside.

According to Lawal, “The resuscitation of the power supply into the local government area in no distant time will be one of my priorities.”

Part of the issues discussed at the Town Hall meeting centered around the resuscitation and upgrading of the Gateway Industrial and Petrochemical Institute (GIPI) into a conventional polytechnic. Also, the establishment of the satellite campus of Western Coast Maritime Academy in the local government area was also raised during the meeting.

Lawal during the meeting announced the donation of 10 hectares of land for the establishment of the satellite campus of Western Coast Maritime Academy.

Scholarship awards were also given to twenty indigents by the Director of Western Coast Maritime Academy, Captain Azeez Ogunyemi on behalf of Hon Lawal Samusideen at the event.

Dignitaries present at the event were the Ogun Waterside PDP Chairman, Hon Fredrick Adebanjo; Minority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Lukman Adeleye, and the Rector of Gateway Industrial and Petrochemical Institute (GIPI) Oni, Engr. Ladi Adebiosu, amongst others.
