Ogun Hajj contingent urged to exhibit good conduct, restraint

Published by

THE Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC), under the leadership of the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has urged intending Hajj pilgrims from the state—and across the country—to exhibit discipline, remain law-abiding and avoid any conduct that could compromise the success of the pilgrimage or tarnish Nigeria’s reputation.

The OMC reminded the pilgrims that the Hajj is a sacred global gathering, and as such, any form of misconduct or violation of regulations could have international repercussions.

It, therefore, encouraged them to be worthy ambassadors of Ogun State and the nation.

In a statement signed by the council’s Secretary-General, Alhaji Kamaldeen Akintunde, the OMC emphasised the importance of compliance with the directives of Hajj officials.

It noted that achieving Hajj Mabrur (a blessed and acceptable Hajj) depends on cooperation with officials and strict adherence to established guidelines.

Meanwhile, the council lauded the appointment of Prince Shamusideen Adebayo Apelogun as the Amirul-Hajj by Governor Dapo Abiodun, describing it as “deserved, meritorious and a commendable choice.”

“Prince Apelogun is known for his devotion to faith and philanthropy, which has benefited individuals, communities and various religious causes, particularly through his support for Hajj sponsorships,” the OMC said.

The council encouraged the Amirul-Hajj to work with members of the Hajj Welfare Committee to maintain the “Ogun standard” and called on the pilgrims to embrace the state’s slogan, ‘Igbega Ipinle Ogun, A jo se gbogbo wa ni’ (the progress of Ogun State is our collective responsibility) for a successful and fulfilling Hajj experience.
