Ogun govt mourns death of former deputy governor, Ogunleye

The Ogun State Government has expressed shock over the death of the former deputy governor of the state, Alhaji Rafiu Ogunleye.

Ogunleye who died at the age of 79 on Monday morning, was the deputy of the second democratically elected governor Ogun, Chief Olusegun Osoba from 1992-1993.

The state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, expressed sorrow over Ogunleye’s death.

Abiodun described the former deputy governor as an astute administrator and a politician par excellence who contributed immensely to the socio-economic and political development of Ogun State.

He attributed the development currently being enjoyed by the people to the efforts of people like Ogunleye, who worked tirelessly to ensure that the State attain its current status.

Abiodun said he had hoped that the deceased would live longer so that his administration would continue to tap from his wealth of experience for the benefit of the people of the State.

The governor urged the family to take consolation in the fact that Alhaji Ogunleye lived an impactful life that benefitted thousands of people and prayed to God to give them the fortitude to bear the loss and grant him repose in Aljanna Firdaus.
