Ogun govt lauds Rotary Club Omole for lifting school laboratories

The Ogun State government has commended the Rotary Club of Omole-Golden District 9110 for renovating and equipping the Physics and Biology laboratories of Ajuwon Senior High School in the Ifo Local Government Area of the state.

The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu gave the commendation at the handing over event of the two science laboratories by the club to the school, recently.

He said the development would certainly enhance the students’ knowledge in the two subjects and also raise the standard of education in Ogun State.

The commissioner, who was represented at the event by a director in the ministry, Mrs Rukiyat Adeoba, said he was particularly grateful to the club for being consistent in contributing to the development of public schools in its jurisdiction.

While imploring the teachers and students of the school to make good use of the laboratories, he called on other philanthropic individuals, groups and corporate organisations to emulate Rotary Club in supporting the government to lift schools in any way possible.

In her remarks, the President of the club, Mrs Favour Madu said the club carried out the laboratories project based on the pressing need of the school.

She said the laboratories would help students who are offering the two subjects to do well in their studies and in examinations and also encourage incoming students in the community to do science-related subjects.

She explained that the club under the leadership of her predecessor, Mr Alli Hassan, actually started the laboratory project but could only do the Chemistry laboratory but now the three major science subjects are now having well furnished and equipped laboratories in the school.

“Now with this development, learning and teaching will be easier and more effective for both the learners and their teachers,” she stressed.

She however, promised that the club would continue to support schools and students not only at Ajuwon High School but at many schools under its jurisdiction as possible in their areas of needs and as financially capable.

Also speaking, District Governor, Rotary International District 9110, which covers Lagos and Ogun States, Mr. Aderemi Bello, said the renovation of the science laboratories and equipping them with necessary accessories is in tandem with the education development as one of the seven focal areas of the club currently.

He said good education and science, in particular, is the bedrock of development in any society, hence the reason the club would continue to contribute meaningfully to the sector.

The students on their parts promised to live up to expectations by doing well not only in the three subjects but in all their subjects and also be of good behaviour.
