Ogun govt approves payment of October 2016 salary

The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has approved the payment of October 2016 workers salary withheld as a result of strike embarked on by workers in the state, to press home their demands.
Amosun, had promised that the salary would be paid before the 2017 May Day celebration.
The state government invoked the “No work”, “No Pay” rule on some workers who abandoned their duty posts while the strike lasted.
In a statement made available to the Nigerian Tribune in Abeokuta, on Thursday, the decision to pardon the workers was as a result of interventions from traditional rulers and other stakeholders in the business of the state.
The statement added that the actions were further testimonies to the commitment of the Amosun-led administration to the overall welfare of the workers.
Government enjoined them to reciprocate the gesture of government by re-dedicating themselves to duties and continue to contribute to the rebuilding mission, so as to further engender economic prosperity or the state.
