Mrs Bamidele Abiodun, wife of Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun has defeated four other First Ladies to clinch the coveted crown of the African Iconic Woman of the Year 2024.
She garnered a total of 2,228 votes representing 31 percent of the total vote cast to defeat Betty Obaseki, wife of Lagos State Governor who came second with 1755 votes, and three others.
The online voting which lasted for several weeks has since been collated upon successful completion of the process.
Bamidele Abiodun has now grabbed the prize of African Iconic Women Recognition Awards (AIWRA) 2024 as African Iconic Woman of the year in Leadership.
Addressing newsmen shortly after the release of the preliminary result in Abuja, the Project Director of FDN, Alexander Ajagbonna, better known as Fajag expressed gratitude with the performances of all the nominees, saying they are all winners.
According to him, all the nominees did their best to mobilize their supporters to vote in the online voting exercise.
The winners will be decorated on May 23 at Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel Abuja.
