Some academic staff members of the Ogun State College of Health Technology (OSCOHTECH), Ilese-Ijebu, have passed a vote of confidence on the management of the institution.
The lecturers, on Thursday, staged peaceful protest within the school campus to demonstrate their unalloyed support to the Dr Abiodun Oladunjoye led administration, urging the state government to ignore an allegation of mismanagement against the management.
Armed with placards with inscriptions such as “no case of embezzlement as shown in the annual audit report”, “petitioners are detractors with intent to destroy our system”, “our campus is rated the most peaceful in Ogun state”, “our salaries are constant and constant”, “we run an uninterrupted academic calendar”, “we are confident in the college management”, among others.
The lecturers, numbering about 50, under the umbrella of Concerned Academic Staff of OSCOHTECH, said allegations levelled against the school management were tissues of lies.
Addressing newsmen, Agboola Olayinka, the Dean of Students Affairs, said some disgruntled lecturers had petitioned the state government and the State House of Assembly over mismanagement of N10million and inflating the cost of purchasing a Toyota Hiace bus.
He said the petitioners were among those indicted by an administrative panel of inquiry over allegation of certificate forgery and raping of some female students of the College.
“They are only working against the possible reappointment of the provost, Dr Oladunjoye for the fear that their cases may be re-opened if he is reappointed”.
Similarly speaking, the Director of Students Industrial Works Experience Scheme (SIWES), Sikiru Salako, said the school management cannot purchase any item without the approval of the state’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
