Ogun border estates donate 5 bikes, to patrol bridge with police

Published by

Following incessant cases of killing, maiming, robbery and kidnapping, Estates around the Long Bridge have donated 5 motorcycles to assist the police in securing the area. In addition, the estates have resolved to employ the services of vigilante groups to jointly patrol the axis, to curb the incessant criminalities prevalent around the Long Bridge, from Berger along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

Residents and commuters have for long been subjected to harrowing attacks by hoodlums on a daily basis even during broad day light. It got to a point when a military general was hacked to death when his vehicle broke down.

In spite of all alarms raised, the area has not attracted government attention, hence residents are resorting to self help to save not only themselves, but also the general commuters who might be caught in traffic jams or with broken down vehicles.

Consequently, five motorcycles donated by different estates and individuals were handed over to the Warewa Police Station DPO.

The Team Chairman, Mr. Godson Samuels expressed the hope that the Long Bridge would become more safe and secure and thanked all the executives of the different estates that support the project.

Similarly, Mr. Babatunde Osinjolu added that these are just the quick-wins, and that further measures would be put in place for a lasting security achievement along the axis.

Responding, the DPO of Warewa Police Station, Mr. Akinade Johnson thanked the estates for their support.

Collecting the motorcycles on behalf of the DPO, the Area Commander, Mr. Irmiya Asimiya, an ACP, said the communities are saving lives beyond me any residents because travelers across the country who pass the road are susceptible to attacks and have indeed been attacked.

He assured the communities that the Police would continue to support the people in ensuring adequate policing.
