The Alaye of Ayetoro, Oba AbdulAzeez Akinola, has charged public officeholders to make transparency and accountability their watchwords towards promoting socioeconomic and the wellbeing of people without compromising standards.
Oba Akinola, who gave the charge during the first meeting of the Council of Baales, Ayetoro chapter, at Ogodo town via Ayetoro, said every public officeholder, irrespective of their positions, must be selfless in serving the people and initiate ideas that will improve the living condition of the people.
He urged them not to take the people’s confidence for granted.
Speaking on behalf of Oba Adelakun at the meeting, the Jagumolu of Ayetoro, Chief Muritala Adedeji, said that the time has come for Yewaland to regain its position, noting that this could not be achieved without indigenes of Ayetoro in elective offices implementing developmental ideas.
“I want to enjoin you to make all-round development your watchword. Public office is not for display of indifference to the plight of the people. It is expected that you will serve with all your heart and bring to bear the creativity that will fast track the growth we have been looking for in terms of human and social amenities,” he said.
While commending the federal and state governments for their commitment towards transforming the three senatorial districts in Ogun, the Alaye said Yewaland, particularly Ayetoro, had benefited from government’s urban renewal drive with the reconstruction of Oja Agbe – Odo Rori road, Omidokun ultramodern town hall, 12 classroom buildings at Government Technical College, among others in Ayetoro and other ‘yellow roof’ projects.
In their separate remarks, the host, Baale of Ogodo, Chief Mutairu Asamu and the chairman, Council of Baales, Chief Samson Oguntade, appreciated the present administration for the welfare package and other emoluments to improve the well-being of Baales in the state.
