Ogun assembly warns land speculators against encroachment on schools’ lands

Ogun State House of Assembly has warned land speculators /grabbers, who have been encroaching on  lands belonging to public education institutions in the state to stop forthwith as relevant legislations were underway to deal with perpetrators.

The Chairman, House Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Honourable Victor Fasanya, handed down the warning while leading other members of the committee in continuation of the budget performance assessment visit to the State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, D. S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade and Abraham Adesanya ICT Polytechnic, Ijebu Igbo.

Fasanya, in company of Honourables Akanbi Bankole and Rasaq Oduntan, assured that the assembly would partner with relevant government agencies to nip the illegal activities of land grabbers in the bud.

According to him, it is illegal for any individual or group to encroach on government’s land clearly meant for public institutions in the state, noting that all hands were on deck to find a lasting solution to the menace.

On their part, Honourables Bankole and Oduntan lauded the managements of the institutions for their efforts at moving ahead in the face of economic recession.

In their various responses, the Rectors of Adegbenro Polytechnic,  Dr. Olufemi Fatade; state Institute of Technology, Dr. (Mrs) Olanike Akinkurolere; Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Dr. Isaiah Oyeyinka and Abraham Adesanya ICT Polytechnic, Prof (Mrs) Bukunola Bilesanmi -Awoderu lauded the state governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, for restoring their monthly subventions.

They promised to evolve more strategies at increasing student intake through improved infrastructure and approval of more academic programmes.
