Ogun State House of Assembly has tasked the heads of Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government in the state to evolve creative means of ensuring the success of the 2017 proposed budget of their various MDAs.
The Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Honourable Akanbi Bankole, gave the charge during his opening remarks at the commencement of the budget defense for the next fiscal year by MDAs at the assembly complex, on Monday.
Bankole, while leading other members on the exercise, described the yearly budget proposal as a process that required the commitment of all arms of government in achieving its successful implementation.
In a release signed by the Head, Information Department of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr Lawal Jamiu, the lawmaker enjoined the head of the MDAs to redouble efforts at ensuring a realistic budget estimate to meet the yearnings of the populace.
Taking his turn to defend the 2017 budget estimate, Commissioner for Ministry of Information and Strategy, Chief Dayo Adeneye, said the ministry was irrevocably committed to repositioning the state and take it back to its old glory through reawakening of the people to embrace the state’s core values.
Adeneye said that the ministry would mobilise the entire citizenry for positive development, noting that efforts were in top gear to ensure the branding of the state to leverage on the successes achieved on developmental projects.
Further breakdown of the ministry’s budget indicated that recurrent expenditure stood at N260 million, while N200 million would take care of overhead.
Meanwhile, the management of Ogun State Television, Mr Dele Bolujoko, has promised to make the television station, project and sustain its core values.
Bolujoko made the pledge while defending the station’s proposed budget for the 2017.
