The Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a motion calling for the enforcement of colour on commercial vehicles in the state for easy identification and to enhance security.
The passage of the resolution was sequel to the adoption of the motion moved by Honourable Aina Akinpelu, seconded by Jimi Otukoya and supported by other members of the assembly.
Honourable Akinpelu, in his argument, said there was an urgent need for commercial transporters to adorn their vehicles with the registered state colours in order to distinguish intra state vehicles from those running inter-state service.
In their submission, Honourables Olakunle Oluomo, Jimi Otukoya, Rasak Atanda, Tunde Sanusi and Olusola Bankole were of the opinions that the resolution on the enforcement of commercial colours would assist in determining the volume of commercial vehicles plying roads in the state, adding that this would also give more jobs to artisans and others in the transport business.
Other members who spoke on the matter, according to the release by the Assembly Head of Information, Mr Lawal Jamiu, contended that it would increase the state’s internally generated revenue.
