Ogun Assembly passes N338.6bn 2021 appropriation bill

The Ogun State House of Assembly, on Wednesday, passed N338.6bn Appropriation Bill for the year 2021 into law.

However, there were slight adjustments in the recurrent and capital expenditures estimates in the budget.

The Chairman, House Committee Finance, Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla had during the plenary presented the report of the committee on the budget before the House.

Sobukanla explained to the House that the total recurrent estimate was reduced from N141.7billion to N146.5billion, while capital expenditure was reduced from N176.6billion to N171.8billion.

The lawmaker added that the recurrent expenditures of 29 agencies and the capital expenditures of 27 other agencies were reduced as well.

Sobukanla informed the plenary that the revenue targets of 18 ministries and agencies were slightly modified.

He further said that the internal loan put at N98.3billion was reduced by N2.62bn, adding that the initial N119.1billion revenue projection had been increased to N121.8bn.

Sobukanla said capital receipt was also slashed from the initial N142.1billion to N139.5billion resulting in N2.6billion decrease.

He thereafter moved the motion for the adoption of the report, which was seconded by the Minority Leader, Hon. Ganiyu Oyedeji.

The motion was unanimously supported by all the lawmakers through a voice vote.

The Speaker of the House, Hon. Olakunle Oluomo later read the bill clause-by-clause before the lawmakers.

The House Majority Leader, Mr Yusuf Sherif, moved the motion for the third reading and was seconded by the Minority Leader, Ganiyu Oyedeji, while the Clerk, Deji Adeyemo, read the bill for the third time.

The speaker later directed that the clean copy of the bill be sent to Governor Dapo Abiodun for assent.
