The Ogun State House of Assembly has assured the state Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives of its readiness to partner it with a view to reviewing the law guiding the operation of the ministry to promote effective service delivery.
The member representing Abeokuta South I State Constituency, Honourable Victor Fasanya, gave the assurance while making a remark at the ongoing defense of the 2017 budget estimates by the various ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) of government before the Committee on Finance and Appropriation led by Honourable Akanbi Bankole at the assembly complex.
Fasanya added that the review became necessary to widen the scope of duty and promote efficiency in the performance of the ministry regulatory role on Community Development and Cooperative societies to be in line with the best global standard.
On his part, Hon Bankole, who led other members of the committee on the budget defense stated that the assembly would strive within its constitutional powers to ensure that MDAs continue to function effectively in line with relevant legislation guiding their operations.
He counseled the ministry to set machineries in motion to continue to mobilize Community Development Associations (CDAs), cooperative societies as well as trade associations in the state as agents of grassroots development for the advancement of socio-economic development of the state.
