This position was contrary to the directive of the National Working Committee (NWC), on Tuesday, on the approved mode of primaries across the states of the federation as contained in a statement signed by the acting secretary of the party, Mr Yekini Babe is, that the state should conduct direct primaries.
The publicity secretary of the party in the state, Chief Wole Elegbede, in a statement made available to newsmen in Abeokuta, said the statement became necessary following the spate of speculations in sections of the media that direct primary option would be adopted.
He said, “Preparation is in advance stage for the conduct of presidential primary by Ogun APC which will be by direct primary option while the primaries for other offices will be by indirect option.
“The party held a meeting with key stakeholders on Monday evening, and the objective of the meeting is to provide information and prepare our members for the presidential direct primary on Friday, 28th September 2018.
