OGTAN decries lack of human capital devt in Nigerian oil, gas sector

THE Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), has decried lack of human capital development in Nigerian Oil and Gas sector.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Thursday, the President of OGTAN, Dr. Mayowa Afe, stated that in the absence of substantial investment in the development of human capital in any country, sustained economic growth and development would only be a mere wish.

According to him, “Human capital development is a key prerequisite for a country’s socio-economic and political transformation. Among the generally agreed causal factors responsible for the impressive performance of the economy of most developed countries is an impressive commitment to human capital development.”

Hence, he said the lack of adequate human capital development in Nigerian Oil and Gas sector necessitated the the theme of the forthcoming OGTAN Annual International Conference titled: “Human Capital Development as a Driver for National Transformation.”

He said the Managing Director of TOTAL E&P Nigeria Ltd, Nicholas Terraz, will deliver the keynote address while other speakers at the conference will include: the Executive Secretary of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Wabote; Dr Christopher Kolade; Mr Emeka Okwuosa, Group Managing Director of Oilserv Group; and Mr Taofeek Adegbite, Managing Director of Marine Platform.
