Dr. Abiodun Oluseye, the Rector of the Ogun State Institute of Technology, Igbesa, has reaffirmed the institution’s plans to begin manufacturing drones, air conditioners, and other products in the near future.
Speaking on Wednesday, Dr. Oluseye also called for support from corporate organizations and public-spirited individuals, emphasizing that funding for higher education should not rely solely on government resources.
Dr. Oluseye made the remarks during a surprise program organized by the polytechnic to celebrate his first anniversary in office.
He was visibly moved by the event and expressed his gratitude, stating, “I never anticipated such a day. Since my appointment, I have focused on fulfilling my duties and managing resources prudently.”
Highlighting his administration’s achievements, Dr. Oluseye noted several key developments:
Dr. Oluseye emphasized the polytechnic’s vision to lead in technological advancement, including ongoing training in robotics and drone manufacturing.
He expressed hope for increased support through grants from corporate organizations, noting that while government efforts are commendable, higher education benefits significantly from external funding.
He was overwhelmed by the celebration and pledged to continue his efforts with the support of staff, students, and management. New courses introduced at the polytechnic include ND Nutrition and Dietetics, ND Food Technology, HND Biochemistry (SLT), HND Building Technology, HND Taxation, and HND Banking and Finance, among others.
