The president of The Care People Foundation, Reverend Tunde Oginni Tioluwani, has promised its support for any bill designed to improve the lives of disabled persons and the motherless babies in Oyo State.
He made the promise at the 2018 election carnival of the foundation for different homes in the South-West at the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway camp of the foundation.
Reverend Tioluwani, in his address, appealed to the federal and state governments to give specific budgetary allocation to such class of people.
“This should be different from the education allocation. This is especially for the less privileged in the society. Anyone who has a budget for the poor will always be blessed. Our governments should be more pragmatic in matters relating to the disabled in the society, especially by making education free at all levels for them as it is done in the western world,” he said.
Others at the carnival were the chairman of Oluyole Local Government Area, Dr Abass Aleshinloye; Mrs Sadipe Tolulope, a Special Assistant to Governor Isiaka Ajimobi of Oyo State; Dr and Mrs Abib Olamitoye; Professor B Adeyemi; an educationist, and Mrs Adeyemi; representatives of New Age Industries; Ajanla Farms and Progress Seafoods.
In his address, Aleshinloye expressed his support to a bill for disabled persons, just as he promised to liaise with not only the members of the state House of Assembly, but philanthropic indigenes in pushing the bill.
He promised not to relent in his efforts at helping the foundation, but admitted that much could be achieved with legislation, hence his readiness to “not only talk to other local government chairmen to use their offices to sponsor the bill and seek the needed support of the Assembly members, but also work with individuals who are passionate about disabled persons”.
Apart from gift items that were won by lottery by participating students, many were given wheel chairs, bags of rice, tins of vegetable oil, clothes, among others, for the Christmas.
