Ogbomoso pig farmers beg government for land

Published by

PIG farmers in Ogbomoso under the aegis of Pig Farmers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), Ogbomoso zone have called on government to assist them with the procurement of a permanent site for their pig farming practice.

Speaking on behalf of the farmers in Ogbomoso, during a get together party organised by one of the clusters under the zone, Secretary, Pig Farmers Association of Nigeria, Ogbomoso zone, Adeniyi Alex, explained that one of the factors militating against pig farming in Ogbomoso is the fact that most of the lands being used by the farmers are being borrowed from government or other private entity.

“If we put it on percentage basis, those that have their own land are just two per cent. We need a large expanse of land so that everybody will come together as one and focus on the business and most especially for best practices. So, we call on governement to please assist us by providing land for us.”

While addressing the pig farmers, President, Pig Farmers Association of Nigeria (PFAN), Prof Kingsley Adesehinwa, called on the farmers to always maintain proper hygiene, stressing that this remains the only way their livestock products will be free from any form of diseases and as such reasonable profit can be guaranteed.
