Olofa of Offa

THE traditional ruler of the ancient town of Offa, the Olofa of Offa, Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II,  has absolved the President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki of any complicity in the robbery incident that took place in Offa, Kwara state on April 5, this year.

This is just as a group of indigenes of Offa, led by a community youth leader, Prince Femi Whyte, during a peaceful protest around the ancient town, accused some politicians in the state of allegedly jeopardizing police investigation on the matter.
The people, who carried placards with messages condemning the robbery incident, called on police authority to ensure that all suspects and accomplices in the incident were prosecuted to prevent a reoccurrence.
In a statement signed by his Principal Private Secretary, Dr Tajudeen Oloyede, which was made available to journalists in Ilorin on Wednesday, Oba Esuwoye called on the police to be alive to their responsibility and avoid sensationalism in the handling of the investigation into the robbery incident.
The traditional ruler, who also said that police should thoroughly investigate the incident, devoid of media trial and unnecessary and undue publicity, added that interest of the people remained in the law taking its course against those who unleashed mayhem and violence to prevent a reoccurrence.
He said that Saraki had taken Offa as his second home, adding that the Senate President had been supportive of all activities and development projects in the town.
Also, speaking, Prince Femi Whyte said that “in the course of the police investigation, some top politicians were mentioned to be remotely connected to the robbery incident in Offa. But to our dismay and sadness, these politicians mobilized some political jobbers to protest in their favour to jeopardize the ongoing investigation by the police”.
