Of heavenly kingdom and global political economy

A review of Nelson Oruh’s book, The Heaven’s Economy.

With excellent economic policies by eggheads, one wonders why the world still experiences economic woes such as recession and downturn, and the global economy is troubled. The book,”The Heaven’s Economy: The Last Hope for Global Economic Reforms,” provides an answer to the conundrum.

The book stresses that the God’s kingdom is the real government and royal republic that rules from the heaven footstool. God, the Master of the global economy, is the Head, the book says.

The book is written by Nelson Oruh, a researcher on the global economy and the dynamics of new world order. The author is also an entrepreneur and life coach. An orator par excellence, his oratorical prowess reflects in the book, which proves that the Mammon economy would fail.

The book x-rays why well thought-out policies by even most respected experts and advanced economies failed. It also provides answers to why Breton Wood institutions’ policies and forecast were not able to forestall global recession and  inequalities pervade the world, leading to pernicious poverty.

 The book is segmented into 17 chapters.

The first chapter titled the Monster Economy is a pointer to the fact that the earthly economic knowledge will always fail to proffer solutions to the myriads of problems facing the world. To support this, the author quotes copiously from the Holy Bible, asserting that:”While the nations are building competencies to curb the effects of the downturn and to possibly re-enlist in the world economic power, experts feel concerned about their constant failures in making a global difference in their approach to crush the escalating recessions. The world’s expectation remain unrealistic as far as what the experts of these economies could offer is not creating the reforms the world is truly looking for”.

“Do we have the strength and resources to challenge and change the economic ideologies that have dragged the entire world into the great recession?”, the author asks in the second chapter. The Heaven’s Government which is its title readily provides an answer. The author says no,expatiating that only God’s ideology can resolve great economic recession.

According to Oruh, the Heaven’s government has distinctive royal attributes which include the power source, leadership, economy, culture, objectivity, body of law and value system.

In chapter three which examines inequalities that pervade the world, the author imaginatively likens nations’ treasuries and other benefits to a tree sealed up to favour a privileged few. Hence, it is titled the Economy Tree.

Chapter four which is the Modest Rulership stresses that mankind is designed to be the governor of the earthly domain, pointing out that   when God created the earth He gave man the authority to rule and reign. He however laments that the world remains unsafe under government of mankind. “Our government will remain politically challenged, unless we pray God installs the right people,” he submits.

In chapter five which is termed Political Jingle, the author declares, “There is always an imbalance of power between the place of God’s leadership and politics itself. This is simply because people do not give God His rightful position in the world’s government”. He stressed the need to pray right and vote right so that those who are not of God can be voted out.

Christianity War is in chapter six. While pointing out that the fight is not against flesh and blood but principalities and powers as written in Ephesians 6:12, the author emphasises that Christians must not relent in praying for those in authorities and the church.

I, therefore, recommend it for all Christians – pastors, teachers, economic experts, business executives and socioeconomic and public affairs analysts.

In chapters seven to nine, the author analytically examines concepts such as Silent Auction; Little Freedom, Huge Debt and Economic Wastage.

Human Corruption, the focus of chapter 10, the author posits that  the worst pollution man can ever come in contact with is that of the heart. He urges Christians to stand their ground with a view to overcoming the scourge.

Chapter eleven, which is the Quiet Revolution, Oruh says the world is beyond reforms premising this on the limited ability of man and the fact that people’s minds are corrupt. 

From chapter 12 to 16, the author analytically x-rays Economic Unionism, Is There Any Hope? Thy Kingdom Treasure, The Central Bank Church and Heaven’s Storehouse.

Chapter 17 which concludes the text, the author dwells on End Time Bride. While pointing out that the greatest battle in the world is the battle to destroy the Kingdom Culture as contained in the Word of God, he laments that the end-time church is endowed with beauty. He charges the world to embrace God’s leadership model which is infallible. To individuals, he urges them to look up to and accept Jesus,the Way, the Truth and the Life.

As regards stylistic assessment, it makes use of simple language that the market woman will understand and enlightening enough for a professor to appreciate.

The books radiates uniqueness. It is an intellectual expose, showcasing the author’s prowess with persuasive, compelling and convincing arguments, quoting copiously from the Heaven’s Book, the Holy Bible.

In a final analysis, it is a one-stop shop for spirituality and intellectualism and a must-read book.
