ODA elects Akenson Rotimi as new president-general

AMBASSADOR Akenson Rotimi has emerged new President-General of the apex body of the Yoruba people of Kogi State, Okun Development Association (ODA).

Akenson and other national officers of ODA will pilot the affairs of the body in the next three years.

Also, Chief Solomon Olawumi was elected vice president South; Adoga Jibril, vice president North while Femi Oloruntoba emerged secretary-general.

Others are Wale Ikuseru, national auditor; Olorunfemi Anjorin, financial secretary; Emmanuel Ayorinde Moses, national social secretary; Felix Folorunsho, deputy social secretary; Kolawole David Friday, deputy secretary-general; with former Managing Director of Graphics Newspaper, Pastor Dayo Thomas and Emmanuel Oladele Alabi became national publicity secretary and PRO II respectively.

Delegates from Bunu, Ijumu, Yagba East and West, Mopamuro, Oworo in Lokoja Local Government Areas as well as traditional rulers witnessed the election.

The new leadership emerged in a peaceful, free and fair election conducted at this year’s annual general meeting held at Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area.

The Elegbe of Egbe, Oba Ayodele Irukera commended the immediate past ODA officers for their selfless service to Okun people as well as the peaceful conduct of the election.

On his part, the immediate past president, Femi Mokikan said his administration was able to increase the consciousness of Okun and Kogi people as well as Nigerians that the association exist, with establishment of branches both within and outside the country.

He said the commencement of the building of Okun Unity House in Kabba is one of the landmark achievements of his administration in the last six years, urging the people to give their support to the information officers.

In his acceptance speech, the new president-general thanked Okun people for the confidence reposed in him, assuring that the new leadership will not disappoint the trust.

Former president-general of ODA, Chief Emmanuel Otitoju, president of South-East Yagba Women Development Association, Chief Ebun Joel and president of Aiyegunle Gbede Development Union, Mallam Ahmed Ade-Fatai congratulated the new leadership on their emergence and prayed God to use them to effect the needed change in Okun land.
