October 1: Sokoto residents shun nationwide protests

As Nigerians across the country took to the streets to protest against bad governance, residents of Sokoto State shunned the demonstrations.

Findings by our correspondent revealed that no protests occurred in the state, particularly in the metropolis.

In a bid to prevent potential protests, stern-looking police officers barricaded all access roads leading to the state government house.

Additionally, policemen were stationed at major roundabouts, a tactic employed to deter any would-be protesters.

Despite the absence of protests, several residents expressed frustration over the rising cost of living, describing it as unbearable.
