Oborevwori urged to reinstate aide suspended for alleged fraud

Continental Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation (NIDO), Africa, Professor Jude Osakwe, has called for the reinstatement of Ambassador Dr Favour Obakoro former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Morals and Diaspora Affairs to Delta governor who was suspended earlier in the year for alleged financial scam.

According to Prof. Osakwe in a press statement in Asaba on Monday, Obakoro who was previously implicated in an alleged financial scam should be reinstated to his position following his clearance by investigators.

An activist, VeryDarkMan had accused Dr Obakoro of using her position as a government official to fraudulently obtain money from different persons following which the state government suspended her pending investigation.

The chairman urged concerned authorities to launch a thorough investigation to unravel and prosecute those behind the scam which Ambassador Dr Favour Obakoro was wrongly accused of.

“You can recall that Dr. Obakoro was previously implicated in a case that drew significant publications . The Turkish firm in the centre of the whole saga has come out to exonerate Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s former aide, Ambassador Dr Favour Obakoro of the allegations .”

Prof Osakwe lamented that the just should not suffer for the unjust adding that the document which contains the Turkish firm’s investigative reports on alleged financial misconducts submitted to relevant authorities revealed that Obakoro was unjustly accused.

He said: “Nigerian Police, EFFC, and other stakeholders should thoroughly investigate this matter because ERN investigative reports faulted and accused the petitioners.

“I have followed the case of Dr. Favour Obakoro closely, paying particular attention to how she was implicated and the steps the police took throughout the process. Now that she has been cleared, I sincerely hope this case will not be swept under the carpet. Everyone involved in this setup should be thoroughly investigated.”

“This underscores the belief that Dr. Obakoro was unjustly targeted and that the entire affair warrants further scrutiny to identify any potential misconduct or abuse of power. I must sincerely commend Dr. Obakoro’s dedication and contributions to the Delta State government and the Diaspora community, her commitment while in office as former aide on Morals and Diaspora Affairs.

“I know the Governor is a man of integrity and will not allow a just person to suffer for what she did not do.”
