Obidient Movement’s South-West Coordinator, Sowunmi, embarks on regional tour ahead conference

Published by

Hon. Seyi Sowunmi, a member of the House of Representatives and South-West Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, has commenced a multi-state tour across Nigeria’s South West region to mobilise citizens ahead of the upcoming South West Obidient Movement Conference scheduled for April 26, 2025.

The tour, which spans all six states in the region, is aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement and encouraging civic participation. Sowunmi met with various political and community leaders, including Professor Biodun Ambode, Comrade Lanre Fadahunsi, Emmanuel Oladotun, and Dele Abiola.

In a series of meetings with youth groups, civil society organisations, and local stakeholders, Sowunmi emphasised the need for people-centred governance and increased public involvement in policy-making. “This region holds tremendous potential,” he said during a stop in Ibadan. “But to unlock it, we must build a people-driven movement that challenges the status quo and demands justice, accountability, and inclusive development.”

The South West Conference, according to Sowunmi, will serve as a forum to outline a unified strategy aligned with the Obidient Movement’s ideals of socio-economic transformation and equitable governance. It is expected to bring together grassroots activists, policy experts, political leaders, and representatives of marginalised communities.

Public reception of the tour has been largely positive, with increased citizen turnout and volunteer interest reported at various stops. Common concerns raised by residents included unemployment, poor infrastructure, and insecurity.
