Obiano’s 5th year anniversary: TUC, NUJ, others, laud his achievements

As Governor Willie Obiano marks the fifth anniversary of his administration on Sunday 17 March 2019, the citizens and corporate organization have applauded his administration for consolidating on the achievements it recorded in the state four years ago.

Our correspondent gathered the views of residents of Awka, the Anambra state capital, about the first year of Chief Obiano’s second term in office and reports that on the seventeenth of March 2018, Governor Willie Obiano was sworn-in for a second term in office after his re-election that was considered a landslide victory as he cleared all the twenty-one local government areas of the state with appreciable margins.

The people re-elected Governor Obiano owing to his spectacular performance in his four pillars of development which include; Security, Agriculture, Youth Empowerment and Education.
The Governor, after his swearing-in for a second term, promised that his tenure would witness improvement in the provision of Infrastructure, Entrepreneurship, Agriculture and would be the first to pay the new National Minimum Wage of 30,000 if assent by President Mohammadu Buhari.
Commenting on the fifth year of Governor Obiano’s administration in the State, the state chairman of Trade Union Congress TUC, comrade Ifeanyi Okechukwu, in a statement, expressed joy that Anambra State under Obiano’s watch, has been peaceful and secured as the huge investment in security, installation of CCT cameras and street lights in parts of the state have made Anambra the safest state in Nigeria, West and Central Africa.
A feat he noted earned Governor Obiano the award of best Governor on “Security Architecture in West and Central Africa from Africa Security Watch 2018, urging him to do more in the areas of youth empowerment and road construction.
He assures the governor that workers in the state would continue to support him in all ramification as a reward for been worker-friendly- governor.
On his part, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Anambra State Council, Comrade Emma Ifesinachi observed that Governor Obiano has sustained the tempo of development he achieved in his first tenure in the areas of Agriculture and Education, stressing that Anambra State keep flooding the market with a wholly indigenous brand of rice known as Anambra rice which is competing favourably with other brands in the market.
Comrade Ifesinachi added that Anambra has maintained her enviable position in WAEC and NECO examinations, while secondary school students and teachers keep excelling in national and international completions.
In his reaction, the National President, Anambra State Association of Town Union ASATU, Chief Alex Onunkwe, who describe the governor as a Blessed to Ndi-Anambra in a telephone interview, congratulate him for his prompt payment of workers’ salaries, wages, gratuities and pensions which he said the state has never witnessed since its creation 28 years ago.
Onunkwe also applauded him for commencing the third phase of the twenty million naira community choose your project initiative which he maintained will accelerate the development of rural areas.
